Quirky Picks

Here are some quirky (somewhat dark) movies that I found entertaining. The highly saturated cinematography, bizarre story lines, and the artistic sets make memorable and fun watching.


Ben and I watched both season 1 & 2 of Pushing Daisies. Don't watch when you are hungry or you may find you eat your TV, because the pies they make look super delicious.



You can tell we had been watching a lot of episodes when we took the last 3 apples out of the fridge and made an apple pie one night. We were out of cheddar cheese or else we would have shredded some on top.

Alex had a cow on his nose, Fritz had a star, and the 3 girls had hearts. We were grooving and mooing with liquid eyeliner.

New York Fashion Week

I met these incomparable sisters at New York Fashion Week.


Jane is in Oscar de La Flora. The couture millinery is lampshade.


The heels are borrowed from the collection of her generous mum.


Emily is sporting a Cruella Deville limited edition. The designer stated that no animals were harmed in the design- faux fur was used at the cuff. The sunglasses are Gucci. The tiara is Mikimoto. The Italian glass shoes are so invisible they are called Barefoot Contessa.

Where's Waldo?

My Waldos on our new swing, Ben made and hung with his fancy knot tying skills. For their summer camp they had a Waldo theme night. What fun to find the real Waldo in a roomful of Waldos.

White T-shirts with red duck tape. Dollar store glasses and red clown noses that double as the pom pom on Waldo's hat. In a pinch you can be Waldo too.

My little angels turned 6 and 4 respectively in the last few days. Emily, who is a most unusual child, wanted shots for her birthday and carrot cake. She actually got both. And true to herself, she didn't even cry when she got her 4 shots. She was a picture of calmness. I'm not sure what God has in store for her, but she is fearless and strong.


It is nice to see my little stone soldier in feathers and fluff. I love the one glove. She is really styling.


Emily is instructing her wayward sister. Jane's facial expression is quite scornful. Dear me.


Glowing in her costume with her hand on her hip. This angel needed cuddling after her five shots. I would too.

Minus 3 Plus 3

A grin to commemorate. In the last 10 days Fritz lost 3 teeth and 3 adult teeth are cutting through.

If you are...

When Jane said she is still going to drink out of a sippy cup when she grows up, Emily said, " If you are going to marry a husband, you've got to think like a lady."

While I laughed at Emily's profound and comical statement, Jane did rebut with, "Stop telling me what to do!"

Dear little girls, I couldn't agree more. Don't marry a man, marry a husband. And be sure, the true lady hides her sippy cup under her gown.
